Outlook 2013: Manually set up email

Note: These instructions are only applicable to Outlook 2013 on a PC. Click here for other versions of Outlook.

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click File.
  3. Under Info, click Add Account.
    Under Info, click Add Account.
  4. Select Manual setup or additional server types, and then click Next.

  5. Select POP or IMAP, and then click Next.

  6. Complete the following fields:
    FieldEnter
    Your NameWhat you want your display name to be for this account
    Email AddressYour full Workspace email address
    Account TypeSelect either POP3 or IMAP, depending on your account.

    Incoming and Outgoing mail serverEnter the server addresses displayed in your Email Setup Center.

    User NameYour full Workspace email address
    PasswordYour Workspace email account password
    Remember passwordSelect this option
    Require logon using Secure Password AuthenticationDeselect this option
    Enter email account settings
  7. Click More Settings...
  8. Go to the Outgoing Server tab, and then complete the following fields:
    FieldWhat to do...
    My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authenticationSelect this option
    Use same settings as my incoming mail serverSelect this option
    Outgoing Server tab: Select My outgoing server requires authentication, and Use same settings
  9. Note: As a troubleshooting step, select Log on using. Then enter your User Name, and your Password. Use your full Workspace email address as your User Name.

  10. Go to the Advanced tab, and complete the following fields:
    FieldWhat to do...
    Incoming serverEnter one of the incoming ports, listed in your Email Setup Center.
    This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)If the port is listed in black in your Email Setup Center, deselect this option. If it is listed in orange, select this option.
    Outgoing server (SMTP)Enter one of the outgoing ports, listed in your Email Setup Center.
    Use the following type of encrypted connectionIf the port is listed in black in your Email Setup Center, set this to None. If it is listed in orange, set this to SSL.
    Server TimeoutsThis selection is up to you.
    Leave a copy of messages on the serverThis option is up to you. If you have a POP account, and you will be using more than one way to access your email, you should select this. Leaving a copy on the server will use up your email storage limit, faster.

  11. Click OK.
  12. In the Add Account window underneath, click Next.
  13. Click Finish.
